Removing and fitting a gearbox-side boot (IBK)
How do you change the boot on an IBK driveshaft?
- 1
Remove the driveshaft from the vehicle.

- 2
Cut and remove the metal collars.

- 3
Extract the tulip.

- 4
After removing the tripod, remove the defective boot.
Make sure you remove as much used grease as possible from the bowl/seal.

- 5
After degreasing the tulip and tripod, reinstall the new boot.

- 6
Place half the grease tube in the boot.

- 7
Place the tripod back on the bar.

- 8
Place the rest of the grease tube in the socket.

- 9
Reassemble the tulip on the tripod.

- 10
Tighten the clamps using a torque wrench.
- For optimum clamp tightening, refer to the Tech'Info
- Be careful: a clamp that is not tightened enough will cause grease to leak. Conversely, a clamp that is too tight will cause the boot to cut.

- 11
Reinstall the driveshaft on the vehicle.
