Removing and fitting a wheel-side boot kit (OBK)
How do you change the boot on a wheel-side driveshaft (OBK)?
- 1
Remove the driveshaft from the vehicle.
- 2
Cut the metal collar.

- 3
Remove the gasket.

- 4
Remove the defective boot. Take care to remove as much used grease as possible from the bowl/gasket.

- 5
Reinstall the new SNR boot

- 6
After cleaning the bowl, fill the seal hole with half the tube of grease.
Caution, when placing the grease in the seal, the grease is not deposited on the balls but inside the hole. When the rod is fitted, the grease will come out through the balls.

- 7
Put the rest of the tube of grease in the new boot.

- 8
Replace the snap ring and compress it again using the special pliers.

- 9
Reassemble the seal on the rod.

- 10
Tighten the clamps using the special spanner coupled to a torque wrench.
- For optimum clamp tightening, refer to the Tech Info.
- Be careful: a clamp that is not tight enough will cause grease to leak. Conversely, a clamp that is too tight will cause the boot to cut.

- 11
Reinstall the driveshaft on the vehicle.
