- Standard tools
- OM 0784 torque wrench
- 3/8" 30-110Nm 331mm torque wrench + interchangeable forks and angle spanner
- A timing box adapted to the type of engine (plugs, cams, etc.)
Disassembling and fitting a new timing belt
Best practice for correctly changing an engine timing belt kit with water pump (KDP)
- 1
Place the vehicle on a lift.

- 2
Remove the right-hand front wheel from the vehicle.

- 3
Remove the sludge separator.
- 4
Remove the engine covers and damper pulley.

- 5
Before disassembling the timing belt system, install the locking pins on the engine in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

- 6
Remove the old timing belt. Start with the belt, then the pulleys (tensioners and idlers) and finally the water pump.

- 7
Clean the sealing surface of the engine block.
Do not use aggressive products. Clean with a cloth or plastic scrapper.

- 8
Reinstall the water pump. It is essential to tighten the components using a torque wrench and in the reverse order to removal. Do NOT use an impact gun.
See all our tips in our video.

- 9
Reinstall the new pulleys (idlers and tensioners), then tighten to torque.

- 10
Replace the SNR timing belt.
The timing belt has a direction. The indications on the back must always be visible.
Never bend a timing belt as this will break the internal fibers of the belt.
Never bring the belt into contact with fluids (oils, diesel, coolant, etc.) and do not use tools as levers to install the timing belt.

- 11
Tensioning the timing belt
- 12
Install the Damper pulley

- 13
Remove the pegs

- 14
Turn the engine by at least 2 revolutions using the crankshaft bolt (2 crankshaft revolutions = 1 camshaft revolution).

- 15
Reposition the pigs on the engine block
- 16
Readjust timing belt tension

- 17
Reinstall all components in reverse order of removal.
- 18
Document the work.
