Disassemble and fitting a cartridge wheel bearing (with a press)
How to change a cartridge wheel bearing (Generation 1) using a hydraulic press
- 1
Remove the wheel. Be careful with this type of assembly. These bearings are fitted with a magnetic encoder which must always be installed on the inside of the vehicle.

- 2
Remove the brake calliper and its clevis.

- 3
Remove the brake disc.

- 4
Remove the wheel hub.
- 5
Remove the ASB wheel speed sensor.

- 6
Remove the knuckle

- 7
Remove the knuckle locking ring (circlip).

- 8
After selecting the correct tool diameter, remove the inner ring from the wheel hub bearing.

- 9
Press out the bearing

- 10
Replace the new bearing in the knuckle.
Caution: when using the press, the force must always pass through the part you wish to install (example: when fitting the inner ring, push only through the inner ring).

- 11
Reinstall the wheel hub.

- 12
Install the new locking ring.

- 13
Reassemble the parts in the reverse order of disassembly, observing the tightening torque.

- 14
Refit the brake disc.

- 15
Tighten the driveshaft nut to the correct torque.
The final tightening of the transmission nut should be done with the wheel hanging, never with the wheel on the ground, as this could destroy the bearing.
